Grandma's Chocolate Gravy

Grandma Chris's Chocolate Gravy

Growing up I use to go spend the weekends at my Grandma Chris's houses. One of my fondest memories was her Chocolate Gravy over Biscuits,Pancakes or Waffles. Grandma Chris would get up before everyone and start breakfast. She almost always had a house full of the grandkids. Sunday mornings she would make her special Chocolate Gravy. As you laid in bed before the sun came up you could smell the chocolate and you just knew you were in for a special treat.
I want to Share her recipe with all of you the way Grandma Chris made it. I don't know where this recipe came from, if she made it up or got it somewhere. This is the recipe that was passed down to me after she passed away. I hope you will make this for your family and enjoy it as much as we have.

1 Cup Hershey's Cocoa
1 Cup Water
1 Cup Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
pinch of salt

Put all Ingredients in a Saucepan and simmer for 10 minutes.
Stir often, don't leave unattended or it could scorch.
Remove from Saucepan and put in Gravy boat, serve over biscuits, Pancakes and waffles.

Grandma Chris always used Hershey's Cocoa but I am sure you can use any cocoa. ( Make sure it is a baking cocoa) To bring out the flavor of the chocolate you can add 1/4 tsp of Instant Coffee. This is best served warm over your Biscuits,Pancakes or Waffles. If you have any left that evening you can put some on Vanilla Ice Cream. (Don't forget the pat of Butter on your Biscuit,Pancake or Waffle there is something about the combination of the Chocolate Gravy and Butter that just makes it complete.)
